The best time to visit Zanzibar is from July to August and December to February. These are the dry seasons — warm weather and little chance of rain ruining planned excursions. These seasons also link perfectly with Tanzania if you are combining your trip with a safari. Zanzibar has two rainy seasons; the long rains bring monsoons from March to May, when beaches are crowd-free and hotels offer discounted rates.
Abeid Amani Karume International Airport (formerly Zanzibar International Airport) is located 5 kilometres south of Zanzibar City — about 10–15 minutes from Stone Town.
